UNEARTHED

Unearthed is a poetry film made by Amina Jama for the  V&A Research Institute (VARI), London. In making the score, we wanted to invoke the feeling of unease within the institutional archives.

I did this through morphing violin recordings in various ways - including extensive use of IRCAM’s Concatenative Synthesis. I wanted to invoke trembling, through irregular plucks and ‘sinking’ through the descending strings. There is also the element of touch expressed through strokes of the string.
