SOIL
SOIL is an immersive installation that aims to understand the patterns that present to us in nature over time. By presenting the different levels of soil nutrient data in the UK from the last 30 years using light and sound, one can begin to understand the imbalances that are occurring in our environment. The installation consists of a grid of hanging resin spheres that display the data of the nutrients through light and a rhythmic soundscape that becomes ‘out-of-sync’ when the nutrients are imbalanced. The installation is designed to be both visually and aurally stimulating, and to encourage visitors to think about the impact that intensive farming is having on soil.
