This contemporary dance performance emerges in the immediate aftermath of Covid, interrogating not just the biological virus that reshaped the world, but the more insidious, lingering systems it exposed and accelerated.
The piece operates within a sonic and choreographic landscape that oscillates between surrealism and dystopia. A hybrid score forms the backbone of the work, built through the interplay of sequencers and live-textured instrumentation. Pulsing, loop-based rhythms, derived from minimal techno structures create a mechanized and algorithmic sense of time, suggesting systems that persist beyond human control.
Interwoven throughout are recordings of violins—sometimes lyrical and organic, sometimes processed, fractured, and multiplied. These strings act as a human counterpoint to the rigidity of the sequenced beats, but they are not immune to contamination. Their melodies are interrupted, stretched, and ‘infected’ mirroring the conceptual framework of the virus as something that mutates not only bodies, but information, perception, and behavior.
